Hendrick MINI, the leading MINI dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina, gives you an update on the Cups 4 Curtis Benefit Golf Event which took place on June 15, 2010 at the Highland Creek Golf Club. The Event started off at 8 am and was a grand success with both enthusiastic participants and eager spectators contributing to a fun filled day. There was plenty of food and drinks as well as several prizes to be won.

The Cups 4 Curtis Golf Event was organized for Officer Curtis Anderson of the Concord Police Department, who has recently been diagnosed with a serious but treatable form of cancer. The golf event was organized to help him and his family in paying for expensive medical treatment. The funds raised from the event will allow him to focus on his recovery and get back to his regular life with his wonderful wife and their two young daughters.

Curtis Anderson grew up in Warren, Ohio and moved to Concord, NC in 2002. He has been married to his wife Shannon for 11 years and they have two young daughters. He and his family are members of Concord First Assembly. Prior to becoming an Officer with the Concord Police Department in 2006, Curtis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department.

One of the peppiest little cars on American roads today, MINI’s new marketing thrust is aimed at calculating your "carfun footprint" figure, a measurement of the MINI’s fun quotient versus how “little” impact it has on the environment.

Billboards, magazines, newspapers and television channels will soon blitz MINI’s "What's Your Carfun Footprint?" new advertising campaign all over the media. The campaign will highlight the MINI’s fun-to-drive, fuel efficient credentials, while also empowering consumers with information about globally debated issues like carbon footprints.

The sporty MINI is widely popular for its small size and fuel efficiency. MINI USA and its agency Butler Shine Stern & Partners (BSSP) say that MINI driver's don't need to compromise on fun to achieve fuel efficiency, because the car offers both in abundant measures. The MINI Cooper convertible returns for 2008 largely unchanged. The MINI's compact size, good fuel economy and cute styling make it a trendy choice for young urban motorists. Produced by BMW, the front-wheel-drive MINI Cooper is a small, two-door, four-passenger car, offered in both coupe and convertible versions. Available in Cooper and Cooper S, the Cooper S has a sportier suspension set-up.

Power and Performance

Under the hood of the MINI Cooper convertible is a previous-generation engine: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that delivers 115 horsepower in the base trim; and 168 horsepower in the S version, which in this case is supercharged. Overview

For 2008, the MINI Cooper S remains largely unchanged from the 2007 model. The muscular MINI S will continue to excite open-air motoring fans with its high-performance credentials. The 2008 MINI Cooper S is available with the ultra-high performance John Cooper works package, which mates a 208-horsepower engine conversion with chassis and brake upgrades and a limited-slip differential. While the MINI Cooper S convertible enters the 2008 model year without any standard equipment changes, the highly popular, optional sidewalk package will add an all-new color to the already unique exterior palette - white silver metallic, which joins sparkling silver metallic as sidewalk-exclusive choices.

Power and Performance

The higher performance Cooper S gets a 172-horsepower, turbo-charged 1.6-liter engine that produces 177 pound-feet of torque and drives the front wheels through a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission; a special “overboost” in the Cooper S can increase torque to 192 pound-feet for a short burst. It is equipped with a sports suspension. The S convertible uses the previous generation engine, which produces 168 horsepower in the S version, and which in this case is supercharged. Fuel economy is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway with the MT; and 23/32 mpg (city/ highway) on the automatic.

Body and Styling

The Cooper S has received a few styling changes over the previous generation: a new engine and an HD radio option. The original MINIs are classics, and BMW has retained the look in a better engineered car. Styling upgrades include S emblems on the front fenders, chrome insets and color schemes. A revamped interior comes with a disc-shaped electronic start button. BMWs MP3 and WMA CD interface (BMW 328xi) include a two-line monochrome radio display and a single CD player. Accommodation in the rear seat is quite cramped.

Safety Features

Safety features include anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic brake distribution system, dynamic stability control, park distance control, pre-tensioned safety belts, child safety anchors, a flat-tire monitor, driver and front passenger air bags, curtain airbags and side-impact air bags. 2007 Mini Cooper - peppy performance, a snub-nose front appearance, and customized options

The Mini Cooper may well be the smallest four-passenger car on the road in North America, but it is large enough to accommodate drivers of all sizes and front seat passengers in comfort. With the hatchback and folding rear seats, the car can even haul reasonable amounts of gear. The Mini appeals to a wide range of buyers, from single young professionals to older couples, who can easily upgrade from the economy-level, to the near-luxury class. Choices include styling options, upholstery style, material, color, interior trim panels, accent panels and ambient lighting.

The 2007 Mini Cooper hardtop is available in the 120-hp Cooper and turbocharged 175-hp Cooper S. The convertible, is unchanged from the 2006 models, and is available in 115-hp Cooper and 168-hp supercharged Cooper S form. The hardtop Mini is a four-seat, three-door hatchback; all models get front-wheel drive, with transverse-mounted 1.6 liter four-cylinder engines. Both hatchback models come standard with six-speed manual transmissions; a six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic controls is optional.

Safety features on the new hardtop models include passive front and rear crumple zones and side-intrusion protection, six airbags, ABS anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Cornering Brake Control.

This is too important for the convenience of cyberspace. This needs substance as only pulp and ink can provide. Being old enough to remember when it was alive in, every car dealership, retailer, and restaurant, I for one mourn the death of customer service each day. That is, I did, until my recent encounters with Christy Owca!
